For the first time in a decade, there was a Saturday afternoon postseason game on opening weekend of the WPIAL football playoffs. As a tri-champion in the Class 1-A Eastern Conference, Imani Christian earned the right to host a playoff game in Round One, and while they did not play at the cozy confines of Historic Graham Field in Wilkinsburg, the Saints hosted Sto-Rox at George Novak Field at the Wolvarena in Turtle Creek under the natural light. The 2017 Pittsburgh City League champion was also decided on a Saturday afternoon tilt at Cupples Stadium while another District 8 team tries to keep its season alive with a PIAA sub-regional playoff contest. Here are ALL the final scores from the first Saturday in November.
WPIAL 1-A First Round:
Imani Christian Saints 52 – Sto-Rox Vikings 0 (Trib)
City League Championship:
Allderdice Dragons 35 – Brashear Bulls 7
PIAA District 5/8 2-A Semifinals:
Berlin-Brothersvalley Mountaineers 38 – Westinghouse Bulldogs 0
