WPIAL sets softball semifinals

The WPIAL softball semifinals are set, and so are the game sites.
Teams in all six classifications will play Wednesday for spots in next week’s title games at Peterswood Park in Peters Township. The finals will be May 29-30 with the schedule to be announced after the game’s are determined.
There are a number of section rematches in the semis, including in Class 6A where all four teams are from Section 2.
Class 5A matches the top two teams from Section 1 in Penn-Trafford and Connellsville, 2A has a 1-2 matchup from Section 3 with Chartiers-Houston taking on Frazier, while Laurel and Freedom are from Section 4.
In Class A, West Greene and Jefferson Morgan finished first and second, respectively, in Section 2.
The semifinals schedule is as follows:
Class 6A
Hempfield (14-6) vs. Seneca Valley (15-5), 3 p.m. at Fox Chapel
North Allegheny (14-6) vs. Norwin (13-7), 5 p.m. at Fox Chapel
Class 5A
Penn-Trafford (18-1) vs. Connellsville (15-6), 5 p.m. at Seton Hill University
West Allegheny (10-7) vs. Franklin Regional (13-7), 5 p.m. at Gateway
Class 4A
Mt. Pleasant (16-0) vs. Thomas Jefferson (15-3), 3 p.m. at Seton Hill University
Elizabeth Forward (15-3) vs. Knoch (17-1), 3 p.m. at Gateway
Class 3A
Avonworth (18-2) vs. South Park (14-4), 6 p.m. at North Allegheny
Ellwood City (13-6) vs. Keystone Oaks (12-5), 5 p.m. at Hampton
Class 2A
Chartiers-Houston (17-3) vs. Frazier (16-3), 6 p.m. at Trinity
Laurel (18-2) vs. Freedom (16-5), 4 p.m. at North Allegheny
Class A
West Greene (17-4) vs. Jefferson Morgan (11-6), 4 p.m. at Trinity
Leechburg (16-1) vs. Union (11-5), 3 p.m. at Hampton
