The WPIAL had 19 boys basketball players earn all-state honors Sunday, and two were voted as the player of the year for their PIAA classifications.

Neighborhood Academy senior Courtney Wallace was named as the top player in Class A, and Aliquippa’s Josh Pratt earned the honor for 3A in a statewide vote of media members.

In all, there were eight first-team all-state players from the WPIAL. Joining Wallace and Pratt were Chartiers Valley’s Jayden Davis and Montour’s Ama Sow in Class 5A, Avonworth’s Rowan Carmichael and Belle Vernon’s Zion Moore in 4A, South Allegheny’s Drew Cook in 3A and Union’s Lucas Stanley in 2A.

Earning second-team honors were Upper St. Clair’s Tyler Robbins in Class 6A, Beaver’s Brady Mayo and North Catholic’s Jason Fredericks in 4A, South Allegheny’s Cameron Epps and Mohawk’s Bobby Fadden in 3A, Jeannette’s Markus McGowan, Neshannock’s David Kwait and Sewickley Academy’s Lucas Grimsley in 2A and Aquinas Academy’s Jacob Guillen in A.

The third team included Jeannette’s Kymon’e Brown in 2A and Serra Catholic’s Owen Dumbroski in A.

Two WPIAL coaches also earned individual honors. Neighborhood Academy’s Jordan Marks was voted as the coach of the year in Class A, and South Allegheny’s Tony DiCenzo shared the 3A award with West Catholic’s Miguel Bocachica.

The all-state team was released just after midnight early Sunday.

Neighborhood Academy went 29-1 in Marks’ fourth season as coach and won WPIAL and PIAA Class A titles. Wallace, a 6-foot-2 senior and Yale recruit, averaged 22.6 points, 13 rebounds and 10.3 assists for the Bulldogs.

South Allegheny (27-4) won its first WPIAL title in team history and finished as the PIAA Class 3A runner-up under DiCenzo in his 13th season. Led by the scoring tandem of Cook (20.5 ppg) and Epps (18.2), the Gladiators lost to Philadelphia’s West Catholic in the state finals.

Pratt averaged 22.2 points for Aliquippa (23-6), the WPIAL Class 3A runner-up and a state semifinalist. Pratt, a junior, has Robert Morris among a handful of college offers.

Davis, Carmichael, Moore and Wallace surpassed 2,000 career points as seniors this season.

Moore averaged 24 points for WPIAL Class 4A champion Belle Vernon, which won its first title since 1978. Moore committed to Harcum College.

Chartiers Valley won the WPIAL Class 5A title behind Davis, who averaged 23.3 points.

Carmichael, an Edinboro recruit, was the WPIAL’s top scorer and averaged 31.9 ppg for Avonworth.

Sow, a Tennessee-Martin commit, averaged a double-double with 20.4 points and 17.5 rebounds for Montour.

Stanley averaged 24.8 points as Union reach the WPIAL Class 2A finals. The Scotties lost in the finals to Jeannette, which was led to the championship by McGowan (15.9 ppg) and Brown (12.5).
