WPIAL postpones Tuesday softball games at Gateway, Hampton, North Allegheny, Shaler

The rainy weather that began over Mother’s Day weekend presented a curveball to the WPIAL softball playoffs.
The WPIAL on Tuesday postponed first-round games scheduled for the afternoon at four sites: Gateway, Hampton, North Allegheny and Shaler. Those games now will take place on Thursday, at the same time as originally scheduled.
Games affected included Connellsville vs. Mars, Trinity vs. Gateway, Shaler vs. West Allegheny, Hampton vs. Latrobe and Franklin Regional vs. Montour in Class 5A; Deer Lakes vs. Southmoreland, Freeport vs. Ellwood City and Keystone Oaks vs. North Catholic in Class 3A; and Springdale vs. Quigley Catholic in Class A.
Games scheduled at Fox Chapel, Peters Township and Trinity remained on as scheduled as of 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The revised schedule for Tuesday and Thursday is below. Games in bold were postponed.

South Fayette vs. Albert Gallatin, 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity
Connellsville vs. Mars, 4 p.m. Thursday at Gateway
Trinity vs. Gateway, 6 p.m. Thursday at North Allegheny
Shaler vs. West Allegheny, 4 p.m. Thursday at Hampton
Hampton vs. Latrobe, 6 p.m. Thursday at Gateway
Franklin Regional vs. Mars, 6 p.m. Thursday at Hampton
Class 3A
Deer Lakes vs. Southmoreland, 5 p.m. Thursday at Shaler
Beaver vs. Derry, 5 p.m. Tuesday at Fox Chapel
Freeport vs. Ellwood City, 4 p.m. Thursday at North Allegheny
