WPIAL Class A football roundup: Fort Cherry stays unbeaten behind Matt Sieg’s 4 TD runs

Matt Sieg ran for 198 yards and four touchdowns to lead top-ranked Fort Cherry to a 42-13 victory over Cornell (6-2, 3-2) in the Class A Black Hills Conference on Friday night.
Sieg also threw a TD pass to Evan Rogers for the Rangers (8-0, 5-0).
Khylil Johnson scored both Cornell touchdowns.
South Side 35, Laurel 7 — Ryan Navarra rushed for 158 yards and three touchdowns as No. 2 South Side (8-0, 4-0) beat Laurel (2-6, 1-3) in the Big 7 Conference. A.C. Corfield added 106 rushing yards for South Side, which outgained Laurel, 430 yards to 213 yards.
Union 47, Northgate 6 — No. 5 Union (7-1, 4-0) beat Northgate (4-4, 2-3) in Big 7 Conference play.
Burgettstown 41, Carlynton 19 — Burgettstown (4-3, 3-2) beat Carlynton (2-6, 1-4) in Black Hills Conference play. Devonte Dean threw for two touchdowns and ran for another in the loss.
OLSH 29, Avella 16 — Brandon Brazell threw for one touchdown and ran for another as OLSH (4-4, 3-2) defeated Avella (3-5, 1-4) in Black Hills Conference play.
California 58, Carmichaels 13 — Spencer Petrucci rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns to lead California (7-1, 5-0) to the Tri-County South win at Carmichaels (2-6, 1-4). Jake Layhue added two rushing touchdowns for California.
Mapletown 38, Bentworth 36 — A.J. Vanata threw for 141 yards and one touchdown and ran for another TD as Mapletown (3-5, 1-4) edged Bentworth (2-6, 1-4) in the Tri-County South. Evan Griffin added 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Mapletown. Vitali Daniels threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 126 yards and one TD for Bentworth.
Jefferson-Morgan 46, Monessen 12 — In the Tri-County South, Jefferson Morgan (5-3, 4-1) beat Monessen (2-6, 1-4).
West Greene 37, Beth-Center 12 — In the Tri-County South, Johnny Lampe ran for three touchdowns and threw for another as West Greene (6-2, 4-1) beat Beth-Center (3-5, 3-2). Billy Whitlach ran for 140 yards for West Greene. Ethan Varesko rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown for Beth-Center.
Clairton 18, Rochester 15 — Class A No. 4 Clairton (6-2) beat Rochester (4-3) in a nonconference matchup.
