How they got here: Mt. Pleasant defeated Ringgold, 9-1, in quarterfinals; defeated Thomas Jefferson, 2-0, in semifinals; Elizabeth Forward defeated Indiana, 5-1, in quarterfinals; defeated Knoch, 4-0, in semifinals
Extra bases: Mt. Pleasant is the only undefeated team in the WPIAL softball and baseball playoffs. … Elizabeth Forward lost to Belle Vernon, 5-4, in last year’s WPIAL title game at Seton Hill. The Warriors are 0 for 5 in the district finals with additional runner-up finishes in 1983 and ‘84 in Class 3A, and 2007 and ‘12 in 4A. A four-run sixth inning pushed the Warriors past No. 3 seed Knoch in the semis. Sersevic (.450) keyed the surge with a two-run hit. Mt. Pleasant beat the Warriors earlier in the season, 4-0, which is the last loss on their schedule. They’re 15-0 since.
