WPIAL Class 4A roundup: Greensburg Salem tops Trinity in OT

Trent Patrick’s 1-yard scoring run in overtime gave Greensburg Salem a 19-13 victory over Trinity (0-1, 0-1) in the Big 8 Conference on Friday night.

Patrick accounted for Greensburg Salem’s other touchdowns in the second quarter with a 16-yard pass to Cavan Trout and a 2-yard run for the Golden Lions (1-1, 1-0).

Thomas Jefferson 48, Ringgold 6 — Dylan Mallozzi and DeRon VanBibber ran for two touchdowns each in top-ranked Thomas Jefferson’s 41-point first quarter as the Jaguars defeated Ringgold (0-2, 0-1) in Big 8 Conference play. Mallozzi finished with 150 rushing yards. Ian Hansen added a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown for Thomas Jefferson (2-0, 1-0).

West Mifflin 44, Indiana 0 — Jacob Davis rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns as No. 4 West Mifflin (1-1, 1-0) downed Indiana (0-2, 0-1) in the Big 8 Conference. Davis also caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Jaylen Dukes, who threw for 142 yards and three touchdowns.

Knoch 21, Blackhawk 20 — Matt Goodlin ran for 187 yards and two touchdowns as Knoch (2-0, 1-0) beat No. 5 Blackhawk (0-2, 0-1) in the Northwest 8 Conference. Marques Trent-Watson rushed for 242 yards and all three Blackhawk touchdowns. Tyler Buterbaugh recorded three sacks for Knoch, which was outgained, 361 yards to 255.

New Castle 28, Montour 21 — Michael Wells scored on a 9-yard run with 23 seconds left in the game to give New Castle (2-0, 1-0) the Northwest 8 win against Montour (0-2, 0-1). Wells threw for 97 yards and ran for two touchdowns while teammate Demet McKnight rushed for 115 yards and two TDs.

Luke Persinger led Montour with 139 passing yards and a rushing touchdown.

South Fayette 55, Beaver 6 — Naman Alemada threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 3 South Fayette (1-1, 1-0) to the Northwest 8 Conference win at Beaver (1-1, 0-1). Eli Snider had two interceptions in the win, returning one for a 30-yard touchdown. South Fayette held Beaver to 111 total yards.

Belle Vernon 58, Ambridge 0 — In nonconference play, Class 4A No. 2 Belle Vernon (1-0) scored 36 first-half points on way to shutting out Ambridge (0-2). Jared Hartman threw for 105 yards and three touchdowns in the win.
