Woodland Hill’s Hill wins WPIBL girls championship

Woodland Hills' Johnna Hill claimed the WPIBL girls bowling championship after an impressive slate of scores Thursday at Sims Lanes.
Hill threw a 689 series in the three-game qualifying round before cruising to victories in the semifinals and finals with scores of 220 and 246.
She defeated Burrell's Carlee Hummel, 220-199, in the semifinals and Hempfield's Teresa Dube, 246-179, in the championship match.
Dube defeated Armstrong's Olivia Emmonds, 188-180, in the other semifinal.
Norwin's Rachel Lundy and Plum's Shannon Small also qualified for the stepladder playoffs.
Emmonds defeated Canon-McMillan's Jessica Cadez, 49-26, in a roll off for the sixth-place spot in the qualifying round.
Eighty bowlers competed at the WPIBL individual championships.
