Westmoreland County wrestlers advance to WPIAL Class AAA tournament

There will be a large contingent of Westmoreland County wresters competing at the WPIAL Class AAA tournament Friday and Saturday.

Host Kiski Area had six wrestlers win championships at the Section 1-AAA tournament Saturday and will send 13 to the WPIAL tournament.

Hempfield (11 wrestlers), Greensburg Salem (10), Franklin Regional (8), Latrobe (6), Norwin (6) and Penn-Trafford (4) also will be well-represented.

Capturing Section 1 championships were Norwin's Kurtis Phipps (106 pounds); Hempfield's Kyle Burkholder (113) and Luke Kemerer (152); Latrobe's Gabe Willochell (126); Franklin Regional's Colton Camacho (132); Penn-Trafford's Job Chishko (145); Greensburg Salem's Jesse Quatse (170); Armstrong's Ogden Atwood (220); and Kiski Area's Darren Miller (120), Noah Levett (138), Nick Delp (160), Logan Pollick (182), Danny Starr (195) and Isaac Reid (285).

Belle Vernon had three champions in the Section 2-AAA tournament — Brock Godzin (152), Logan Seliga (126) and Zachary Hartman (160).
