The TribLive High School Sports Network begins 2024 by introducing the first Trib HSSN boys basketball rankings from across the PIAA.

Each week until the final buzzer in Hershey in mid-March, Trib HSSN will rank the top five teams in each classification.

Here is a reminder of the PIAA boys basketball state champions from the 2022-23 campaign.

Three of the twelve PIAA districts shared the six state championships.

District 3 (Harrisburg area), District 12 (Philadelphia City and Catholic Leagues) and District 7 (WPIAL in Southwestern Pa.) all captured a pair of boys roundball state championships.

D-3 champs were Reading in 6A and Lancaster Mennonite in 2A, D-12 winners were Imhotep Charter in 5A and West Catholic in 3A and WPIAL state champions were Lincoln Park in 4A and Imani Christian in A.

In this season’s debut poll, five of the six defending champs are ranked, and three are sitting in a familiar spot at No. 1.
