Trib 10: Ranked teams face tough tests in Week 9

It was another calm-before-the-storm week in the latest Trib 10 power rankings.

All 10 teams were victorious in Week 8, but things will be changing heading into the WPIAL postseason once the dust settles from what should be a scintillating Week 9.

There are two heads-to-head showdowns this Friday with No. 5 Thomas Jefferson hosting No. 7 McKeesport and No. 10 Elizabeth Forward visiting No. 6 Belle Vernon.

Plus there will be tough challenges for No. 1 Aliquippa, No. 2 Peters Township, No. 3 Central Catholic and No. 8 Penn Hills.

Here are the latest Trib 10 power rankings with overall record, last week’s ranking and Week 9 opponent. These rankings have zero classification boundaries.

1. Aliquippa, 8-0, (1): The Quips visit Central Valley on Friday

2. Peters Township, 9-0, (2): The Indians host Bethel Park on Friday

3. Central Catholic, 8-1, (3): The Vikings visit Gateway on Friday

4. North Allegheny, 8-1, (4): The Tigers visit Seneca Valley on Friday

5. Thomas Jefferson, 8-1, (5): The Jaguars host No. 7 McKeesport on Friday on Trib HSSN

6. Belle Vernon, 7-1, (6): The Leopards host No. 10 Elizabeth Forward on Friday on Trib HSSN

7. McKeesport, 8-1, (7): The Tigers visit No. 5 Thomas Jefferson on Friday on Trib HSSN

8. Penn Hills, 7-2, (8): The Indians host Woodland Hills on Friday

9. Avonworth, 9-0, (9): The Antelopes visit Quaker Valley on Friday

10. Elizabeth Forward, 9-0, (10): The Warriors visit No. 6 Belle Vernon on Friday on Trib HSSN
