With the state football championships complete, there have been 37 years of PIAA football playoffs.

This season marked only the second time in history the WPIAL missed out on the PIAA parade of champions.

With Central Catholic falling to St. Joe’s Prep in 6A and Avonworth losing a heartbreaker to Northwestern Lehigh in 3A, District 7 has only two silver runner-up trophies to show for this PIAA postseason.

The only other year the WPIAL missed out on state gold was in 1992, the fifth year of the state playoffs, when Upper St. Clair in 4A, Blackhawk in 3A and East Allegheny in 2A reached the PIAA finals and lost.

Here are the final Trib 10 power rankings for 2024. Teams are listed with overall record and last week’s ranking. These rankings have zero classification boundaries.

Look for a big change next August when the Trib 10 power rankings return for the 2025 football season.
