Trib 10: Changes afoot after No. 1 baseball, softball teams suffer 1st losses

The first power rankings in May have a different look for district baseball teams while the song remains the same in the softball Trib 10.

Several top teams losing one or two games this past week caused a shuffling of the deck in the baseball rankings with Montour and Shaler falling out for now while Pine-Richland and West Mifflin return.

Even though the defending WPIAL and PIAA Class 3A champions had their 36-game winning streak end with a loss to Neshannock, Riverside remains on top of the power rankings.

There were zero changes through Tuesday in the softball Trib 10 as last week’s teams kept stacking victories.

Then on Wednesday, Hempfield cruised past Seneca Valley as No. 1 and No. 2 flip-flopped in the softball power rankings.

Hampton also fell on Wednesday, opening the door for South Park to join the Trib 10.

Here are the latest power rankings. Teams are listed with overall record and last week’s ranking. These weekly rankings have zero classification boundaries.
