Mt. Lebanon brought previously undefeated Plum back to the pack in a doubleheader sweep of the Mustangs last Sunday in Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Softball League action.
The wins bumped the Blue Devils up to 6-2, while Plum fell to 6-2.
West Allegheny dominated North Hills over two games to also improve to 6-2.
All three teams trail Bethel Park (7-1) at the top of the standings. The Black Hawks shut out Baldwin on Sept. 20 and then swept a doubleheader from Hempfield on Sunday.
Rain postponed three other doubleheaders, and league officials are working to reschedule the games.
All 12 teams return to action Sunday with doubleheader matchups. The top four teams will pair off in two double headers as Mt. Lebanon faces Bethel Park and Plum takes on West Allegheny.
In addition to varsity, junior varsity and junior high games this weekend, all 25 of the WPISL developmental teams, featuring players in grades 3 through 6, will be playing games Saturday at Wild Things Park in Washington. The Ultimate Softball Showdown begins at 9 a.m. and runs through the evening under the lights.
