The Herald Spotlight Athlete: Fox Chapel’s TJ Johnston

TJ Johnston, a senior on the Fox Chapel baseball team, has helped the team to a 5-2 start this season. Johnston, who plays shortstop and has been on the varsity for three years, also played on the FC football team. He will attend Penn State Behrend and continue to play baseball there. He hopes to major in engineering with a minor in business.

If you could go somewhere you’ve never been, where would you go?
Japan.
What sport would you be involved with if not baseball?
Probably Ultimate Frisbee.
How many Pirate games do you go to in a year?
Usually two or three.
Have you ever sat in the all-you-can-eat seats?
Not yet. I’d like to try it, though.
What TV show makes you want to change the channel?
A reality show.
What movie could you watch over and over?
“The Last Samurai.”
Who is your favorite major league ballplayer?
Josh Bell.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
Hilton Head.
Who is your favorite Pittsburgh athlete?
Hines Ward.
Who makes the best pizza around?
Caliente’s.
What would make up your favorite all-time meal?
Fried chicken, biscuits, grits and gravy.
What is your favorite TV show?
“The Office.”
What junk food do you have a weakness for?
Hard candies.
