This next statement seems awfully strange: Either Beaver or Trinity will be in the WPIAL Class AAA boys basketball Semifinals. As strange as that sounds, it is true. Beaver and Trinity play in a Quarterfinals game Friday night, and one of them will move on to next Tuesday’s Semifinals. History says how Beaver and Trinity playing in a Semifinals game is unheard of. Trinity has never been to a Semifinals game before, and the Hillers won a grand total of six playoff games in school history. Two of those were this year. The others came last year, one in 2010 and two in 1984. Beaver, meanwhile, has made it to the Semifinals only once in school history. That was in 1987. The Bobcats have only six playoff wins in school history – two this year, two in 1987, one in 1982 and one in 1977.

CANON-McMILLAN & BURRELL CONTINUE WPIAL TEAM WRESTLING DOMINANCE

Two incredible golden streaks continued Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School as Canon-McMillan and Burrell continued their district mat mastery. The top-seed Big Macs dominated in their three wins to become the fourth team ever to win three straight WPIAL Team Wrestling Championships.

2011 WPIAL GIRLS SOCCER PLAYOFFS – 10/19

The brackets are out for the 2011 WPIAL Girls Soccer Playoffs that begin on Saturday, October 22nd and continue through to the finals on Supper Soccer Saturday on 11/5/11. Peters Township in AAA, Mars in AA and Shady Side Academy in A are the three defending champions and two of those three are top-seeds this year as well.
