Mount Lebanon, Montour, Greensburg CC & Lincoln Park All Settle for Silver in PIAA Boys Basketball Playoffs

There is plenty of silver to be found in Southwestern Pennsylvania following the state basketball championships at Penn State University. Mount Lebanon in AAAA, Montour in AAA, Greensburg Central Catholic in AA and Lincoln Park in A all lost in the state finals in Happy Valley, three of them fell to District 12 powers while Mount Lebanon lost to the District 1 champs.

Penguins Cup Winners USC, B.Canevin and Mars Sweep 2011 PA Cup Championships
Now if only the NHL versions would follow in the footsteps of high school hockey. The three winners of the 2011 PIHL Penguins Cup Championships, Upper St. Clair, Bishop Canevin and Mars have swept the Flyers Cup winners to win all three state title games in the 2011 Pennsylvania Cup Championships Saturday afternoon at the Ice Line Arena in West Chester.

It took 53 minutes and 10 seconds to crown a Class AAA champion, but that just made it all the sweeter for 4th-seed Upper St. Clair as they upended 2nd-seed Canon-McMillan in dramatic fashion in overtime to win the Panthers first Penguins Cup Championship since 1987 Sunday night at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
