The Plum boys golf team snapped an eight-year WPIAL team playoff drought last year by finishing second to Central Catholic in Section 4-3A.

The Shaler and Plum football teams entered Friday’s game undefeated, looking to take a big step forward in the Class 5A playoff picture.

Two-time defending WPIAL champion Ken High scored on its first three possessions, opening the season with a 20-0 victory over Central Catholic on Sept. 10, 1948. Willie Thrower (27) tossed two touchdown passes and guard Renaldo Kozikowski scored from 57 yards out on the old Statue of Liberty play.
