2017 PIAA Team Wrestling Playoffs RESULTS
February 11, 2017
Nazareth won the PIAA Class 3-A Team Wrestling championship, their first since 2006 while District 10 champion Reynolds won the Class 2-A crown for the first time since 2009 Saturday afternoon at the GIANT Center in Hershey. The only WPIAL team to medal was Class 3-A champion Kiski Area after the Cavaliers won four consolation round matches to finish in third place. Here are ALL the final results from the 2017 PIAA Team Wrestling State Playoffs.

2017 WPIAL TEAM WRESTLING Results

It has been a decade of dominance for the Burrell High School wrestling team. Now it is a decade PLUS. Since 2007, the Bucs have now won a record eleven straight WPIAL Class AA Team Wrestling championships after knocking off the Freedom Bulldogs for a second consecutive season in the district finals on Saturday. Meanwhile, the top-seed Kiski Area Cavaliers remained undefeated as they won the 3-A championship for the third time in school history and the Cavs first title since 2003. Here are ALL the results from the 2017 WPIAL Team Wrestling Playoffs.

Kiski Area Perfect in Winning WPIAL Wrestling 3-A Title
February 4, 2017
Kiski Area capped off an incredible season on the mat, as the Cavaliers remained undefeated in capturing the 2017 WPIAL Class AAA Championship at Penn Hills High School. The top-seeded Cavaliers (19-0) defeated Canon-McMillan 41-21 to claim the first team wrestling title since 2003.
The Cavs and No. 2 seed Big Macs exchanged falls at the onset, as Kiski's Nick Delp and Canon-McMillan's Gerrit Nijenhuis provided pins in the 152-pound and 160-pound weight classes, respectively. Next, the Big Macs' took a brief lead, as 170 pounder Blaze Kansco notched a decision. The Cavs responded, though, as Kiski's Vinny Romano secured a decision to deadlock the score at 9-9.

Penn-Trafford Warriors Hometown Boys Soccer Broadcast Recap – 10/04/2016

Austin Kreutzberger’s goal in the 69th minute of play proved to be the game winner as Penn-Trafford came from behind at home in the second half to defeat Kiski Area at Warriors Stadium.
Kreutzberger, a junior forward, took a feed from senior Joe Salesi up ahead and in the right side of the box and buried a shot from 12-yards out past Cavaliers goalkeeper Nick Bisceglia to give the Warriors their first lead.

CTK ’16: 5-A Big East Conference Preview

The 5A Big East Conference bares a strong resemblance for the former Quad-A Foothills Conference, as Connellsville, Greater Latrobe, Kiski Area, McKeesport, Penn-Trafford and Plum all remain intact. The other three spots, though, are comprised of teams previously in the AAA Greater Allegheny Conference, Franklin Regional, Gateway and Armstrong.
Six of the nine squads qualified for the postseason last year, with Penn-Trafford reaching Heinz Field for the Quad-A title game and McKeesport also ranking among Quad-A's best. If the Warriors and Tigers take even a slight step back this year, though, the conference could be wide open.

WPIAL champion Belle Vernon (20-2) finished in third place at the PIAA Class AAA Team Wrestling Championships by winning the consolation final over Nazareth, 30-28, on Saturday afternoon at the GIANT Center in Hershey, PA.

PIAA Team Wrestling Playoffs – Day Two Recap
All three WPIAL Class AAA teams remain alive at the PIAA Team Wrestling Championships, but only one will bring home the hardware from Hershey's GIANT Center. Belle Vernon lost Friday evening in the semifinals in a much anticipated showdown with the state's top-ranked team. As a result, the Leopards drop to the consolation bracket and await the winner of a match between the WPIAL's other two representatives, Canon-McMillan (12-3) and Kiski Area (22-2), who will square off on Saturday morning in a third round consolation match at 9:00am .
