In dedication to Clairton's school colors, maybe they should change the name of this Class A section to the Black AND Orange Hills Conference. The Bears have dominated the WPIAL and the state in recent years, but they have really done a number in the Black Hills since moving over from the Eastern Conference in 2008.

WPIAL Softball – 2011 Season Preview

The 2011 WPIAL softball season is set to begin on Friday, March 25th. Two district teams are defending STATE champions in Mount Lebanon and Chartiers-Houston, while the Blue Devils, Montour Spartans, Valley Vikings and Vincentian Academy Royals now begin defense of their WPIAL titles, even though the Vikings have moved up from Class AA to Class AAA.

Mount Lebanon Queens of the PIAA Girls Court Again and Again and Again While Archbishop Wood, Villa Maria & Steel-Highspire Also Win Titles

For a third straight year, the Mount Lebanon Blue Devils are sitting on top in Pennsylvania in Class AAAA. It wasn't pretty, but he Blue Devils were golden again by hanging on to a one point victory. District 10's Villa Maria Academy in Class AA also pulled off the trifecta by winning a third straight state title with a rout Friday afternoon.

Sweet 16 For North Catholic in Win Over Ft. Cherry for Girls Class A Girls Championship
It got a little scary but North Catholic picked up their 16th WPIAL championship with a 49-43 victory over Fort Cherry in the Girls Class A championship game. The final two minutes saw North Catholic struggle from the foul line, the Trojanettes went 11 of 22 for the game.

SSA’s Geoff Alexander Golden For a 4th Time in 2011 WPIAL Class AA Individual Wrestling Championships

The 2011 WPIAL Class AA Individual Wrestling tournament had a bit of a rhythm to it Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School, with many wrestlers duplicating previous gold medal victories. The story of the night was the 4th WPIAL championship for Shady Side Academy's Geoff Alexander, who became the 20th wrestler in WPIAL history to win gold in all four years of his high school career.
