Each week during the regular season, MSA Sports will rank the top ten softball teams in the WPIAL in all four classifications every Tuesday at www.MSAsports.net While the first pitch to the 2012 season was thrown this past Friday, section play began Thursday for some district teams. India McCoy is bar hopping like few girls have in the history of the WPIAL. McCoy is only a sophomore at Ambridge, but she already has established herself as one of the best high jumpers in league history. On Friday night at the Baldwin Invitational, McCoy tied a meet record by clearing 5 feet 8 inches.

WPIAL Softball – 2011 Season Preview

The 2011 WPIAL softball season is set to begin on Friday, March 25th. Two district teams are defending STATE champions in Mount Lebanon and Chartiers-Houston, while the Blue Devils, Montour Spartans, Valley Vikings and Vincentian Academy Royals now begin defense of their WPIAL titles, even though the Vikings have moved up from Class AA to Class AAA.

There were players who put up bigger numbers on Friday none, but none that made more of an impact for their team than these players, whose clutch performance helped their teams clinch a ride on the Highway to Heinz.
