The way the WPIAL baseball playoffs are set up, a team that makes it to a championship game could use its No. 1 pitcher in three of four contests. That is extremely good news for Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson pitcher Greg Schneider hasn’t just been unbeatable this season. It has been almost impossible to score on him. Schneider had one of the most dominating regular seasons of any pitcher in recent WPIAL history. Schneider, a Thomas Jefferson senior and a Pitt recruit, led Thomas Jefferson to the Class AAA Section 3 title. His statistics were remarkable.

2011-2012 MSA SPORTS ALL MAT WRESTLING TEAM

The WPIAL team championships may have had the same results for the 3rd year in a row, with Burrell winning the AA and Canon McMillan winning the AAA WPIAL title (in addition to the Big Macs winning the PIAA Championship). The individuals certainly did not disappoint, with the WPIAL bringing home 6 individuals state championships plus the City League claiming its first ever gold medal. WPIAL Boys and Girls Basketball Realignment for 2013 and 2014

The WPIAL Board of Control Tuesday approved the new basketball alignments for both the boys and girls for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 high school winter sports seasons. Here is the new section break down in each classification for both the boys and the girls.WPIAL schools moving up in class for the next two seasons are New Castle boys, Hampton boys, Trinity boys, Freeport boys, Ellwood City boys, Steel Valley boys, Elderton boys, Bentworth boys, Laurel Highlands girls, Chartiers Valley girls, Southmoreland girls, Brownsville girls, Waynesburg girls, Keystone Oaks girls, Quaker Valley girls, Riverview girls, Chartiers-Houston girls and Fort Cherry girls.

PIAA Team Wrestling Championships – Day Two Highlights

With one huge victory, Canon-McMillan (22-0) ended Central Dauphin’s four year stranglehold on the PIAA Class AAA title; ended the Rams’ state-record of 95 straight dual meet wins; and earned the opportunity to win its first-ever state team championship.

Golden Run Continues as Burrell Upsets Jeff-Morgan To Win AA Title

A year removed from winning their fifth straight WPIAL Championship, Burrell came into the 2011-2012 season replacing seven starting seniors and a new head coach. But that did not stop the Buccaneers from keeping their WPIAL Championship streak alive.
