Chicks Picks – Week Ten – 2014
October 30, 2014
Welcome to Week 10 of the high school football season. Chick’s Picks attended the wedding of a dear friend last weekend. The lavish affair featured dinner entertainment by a celebrity musician. Awestruck by his performance, Chick’s Picks was determined to find an opportunity in this intimate setting to personally applaud the star.
As guests began to mingle after dinner, Chick’s Picks spotted the celebrity packing up his equipment and headed his way. Before she could get out a formal introduction, though, the celebrity interrupted, “Wow, is that really you Chick’s Picks? You’re my idol! No one can prognosticate quite like you!”

PIHL Notebook – 2014-2015 Class B & C Preview
October 27, 2014
Welcome to another installment of “PIHL Notebook” as we wrap up our season preview four-pack with a look inside what used to be the Open Class. Instead, it will now be known as Varsity Division II, divided into Class B and Class C. It bears mentioning, as touched upon in our feature on the new alignment on October 6, only co-op teams are allowed in Division II.
Class B is the cream of the crop, at least on paper. Defending Nailers Cup champion Harbor Creek headlines things, joined by four semifinalists from the 2014 Open Class Playoffs. Also in the mix is a Penn-Trafford squad down from Class AAA, a brand new “B Team” from Upper St. Clair, and a blast from the past in Meadville.

Scholastic Notebook – 09/26/2014
September 26, 2014
Whether it’s the football end zone or a soccer net, both places are treated like a crime zone by the fall sports teams at Pittsburgh Central Catholic.
They might as well put yellow tape around the end zone or net because the Central Catholic teams take a “keep out” attitude towards them. It is unusual for two fall sports teams to have such a successful zero tolerance policy.
The Central Catholic football team is 4-0 and has allowed only seven points in four games. The Vikings have three shutouts and are the No. 1 defensive team in the WPIAL.
The Central Catholic boys soccer team has played 11 games and has allowed only one goal. The Vikings are 11-0 and have outscored opponents, 56-1.

See I told you it goes by quickly, I am just about set for week one and here is week three! The weather man says it will feel a lot more like football this weekend. Before we go Big Game Hunting a shout out to the defenses! We here at BGH are lovers of the defensive side of the ball. Despite the fact that all the gang at the network refer to us as “offensive”, sometimes right to our faces, we appreciate the big stops in the big spots. We love the traditionally strong defensive teams at have not allowed a single point thus far into the 2014 season.
