2017 PIAA Boys Volleyball Playoffs Results
June 10, 2017
There was a time when the WPIAL dominated boys volleyball throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. However, that has changed big time. The WPIAL has produced only three state champions this century and none since North Allegheny in 2013 in Class 3-A and Deer Lakes in 2011 in 2-A. The drought continues another year after both North Allegheny in 3-A and Beaver County Christian in 2-A made it to the finals, but dropped 3-1 decisions to settle for state silver. Here are ALL the results from the 2017 PIAA Boys Volleyball Playoffs. All results with (MSA) after are matces that can be heard archived on the MSA Sports Network. 2017 PIAA CLASS 3-A BOYS VOLLEYBALL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:

The Hempfield softball team is undefeated this season and has won 39 games in a row over the last two years. But maybe the most impressive streak of this team has to do with nothing. As in nothing allowed in the state playoffs. Hempfield has not given up a run in two years of PIAA postseason play. The Spartans won a PIAA championship a year ago and did not allow a run in four games. In two state games this year, Hempfield has defeated Central York, 1-0, and McDowell, 5-0, in eight innings. Hempfield plays Chambersburg in the PIAA Class 6A semifinals Monday. The No. 1 objective, obviously, is to win. Chambersburg's objective will be to somehow crack Hempfield's scoreless streak.

Beaver County Christian Ends Ambridge’s WPIAL AA Volleyball Run
May 28, 2016
The narrative was all too familiar before the championship of boys’ volleyball in Class AA. For the fifth straight season and for the eighth time in nine years, the Bridgers of Ambridge were in the house competing for a championship. They had won seven titles in the previous eight seasons, going 7-7 in their opportunities. But all good stories in sports come to an end eventually, and when the final volley was complete at Baldwin High School on Friday night, a new champion was crowned. A champion, in the Eagles of Beaver County Christian, whose name probably isn’t all too familiar for followers of the WPIAL. It was the first appearance for the team that hails from a school that has 33 male students enrolled in a volleyball championship game.

Moon’s running game went from Colaianni to Cole, and now everything is cool with the Tigers on the ground.Moon is in the WPIAL football playoffs this season for the first time since 2006, and one of the main reasons for the turnaround is Cole Blake, a senior running back who is the fifth-leading rusher in the WPIAL heading into the playoffs.Blake has made a name for himself, rushing for 1,457 yards. He set a school record with 342 yards in one game. But Blake’s story is interesting in that he only got a chance to be the featured back this year because of an injury. Suffice to say, Blake has run with that chance.
