MSA Sports Big Game Hunting – Week Six

Week six just like that and while everyone in town is thinking about baseball we need to focus on the stretch run as it is just around the corner for the WPIAL football season. It is time to start jockeying for position, wins for your team and for teams your team has already beaten become bigger and bigger now as you hope to convince the playoff seeding committee of your team’s worthiness. Take care of your business and it will matter not what others think or believe about your team. That is the best thing about high school football, we play it out, win and your ranking has no bearing whatsoever on your chance at the crown.

2013 MSA Sports Hometown Volleyball Program Member – The Avonworth Antelopes

This is my 13th year as head coach. Hope it’s not unlucky, but we already have two girls who had season ending injuries from basketball. We hope to compete for the section championship and go deeper into the playoffs than last season.  But, we have a very solid and very big team this season and we think that we can compete with anyone. When you settle in and listen to the halftime show featuring Don Rebel and Professor White this Friday, we will have reached the exact halfway point of the 2013 WPIAL football season. It’s true, it goes by faster than a Pittsburgh Steelers offensive possession. We are beginning to see a pretty clear picture of who will be in the post season and this week we will get a chance to sort out who will become the favorites to make deep runs in said post season.

Hometown Girls Volleyball Match Recap: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 3 – AVONWORTH 0

At Avonworth High School in Hometown Volleyball action the Avonworth Antelopes took a tough section four loss at home to the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Chargers by a score of 3-0.  Both teams came into the game with 3-0 records. Avonworth was 3-0 in section four, OLSH 2-0. However the Antelopes after tonite fall to 1/2 game back of the Chargers.

CTK 2013 – WPIAL Single-A Eastern Conference Preview

One record setting streak ended in the Eastern Conference last fall while another overall slide continues into this 2013 campaign.While all eyes were on Clairton’s WPIAL and PIAA record winning streak, the longest losing streak in WPIAL history came to an end last fall when West Shamokin finally put a game in the ‘W’ column. The Wolves snapped a 46-game, five year losing streak that dated back to 2007 when they knocked off the Riverview Raiders 25-6 in Week 3. West Shamokin liked the feeling so much, they won two more games before the season ended.
