WPIAL Alum Q&A – Jesse Zubik

While the Avonworth football team has been on the WPIAL radar courtesy of some impressive playoff runs in recent years, the play of a former Antelope is also making headlines. Former Avonworth standout Jesse Zubik has produced a monster season as Washington and Jefferson College, putting up some of the best receiving numbers in all of DIII football. Consequently, the latest installment of WPIAL Alum Q&A will take a closer look at Zubik.
As a member of the Antelopes in 2012, Zubik notched 330 yards receiving and three touchdowns as a junior. That season, Avonworth concluded its campaign with a record of 5-5, including a first-round playoff loss to Rochester.

MSA Sports Saturdays Scholastic Starz for Week Seven

A couple of more Homecoming Weekends once again expanded the Saturday WPIAL football slate on a chamber of commerce postcard picture perfect October day. Some school districts have a parade through town to coincide with their special autumn weekend in which alumni return to their alma mater. There five players put their skills on display as Week Seven concluded and we took another step toward then end of the regular season.

Big Game Hunting for Week Two 2016

Friday and Saturday the MSA Sports Network has you covered with wall to wall games from week two of the WPIAL season, and hey, even if your game turns out to be not that good, at least you won’t have to watch the Pirates!
Some eyebrows were raised last week and there were also a lot of “I told you so”s being thrown around the WPIAL in week one. We continue to discover who is going to rise to the top, and who is going to find themselves in a dog fight for their playoff lives here in 2016. Because for sure, some of these teams are going to show a lot more fight for their playoff lives than the aforementioned Pirates. So forget that dusty old Jolly Roger over there in the corner and let’s go Big Game Hunting!

CTK ’16: 2-A Three Rivers Conference Preview

The Three Rivers Conference was demolished after 1999, just two years before Three Rivers Stadium was demolished.
But the Three Rivers Conference has come back to life.
With six classifications in Pennsylvania football this year, new conferences were formed in the WPIAL. The eight teams in this Class 2A section decided to call themselves the Three Rivers Conference.
The funny thing is, only one team (Carlynton) that is a member of the Three Rivers this season also was in the last Three Rivers Conference in 1999.

AVONWORTH ANTELOPES
The Antelopes will look a lot different this year. Why? Because they don’t have a quarterback who set a WPIAL record last season.
