There were plenty of medals being handed out to WPIAL tennis players Saturday at the Hershey Racquet Club. Back in September, Ronit Yurovsky of Plum beat Sara Perelman of Shady Side Academy in two sets to claim the WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis crown in Class AAA. Saturday afternoon, history repeated itself as Yurovsky beat Perelman again in the state finals.

NA Duo Settles for Silver in 2010 PIAA Girls Doubles Tennis Championships
A pair of WPIAL duo's made it to the Semifinals in the 2010 PIAA Girls Doubles Tennis Championships this weekend in Hershey, one in Class AAA and one in Class AA. The North Allegheny team of Lylie Isaacs and Mikayla Becich had to settle for silver after they advanced to the finals Saturday afternoon only to lose in two sets.

Shady Side Academy Wins PIAA Girls AAA Team Tennis Title by Edging Mt. Lebo

Last week, Shady Side Academy edged Mount Lebanon to win the 2010 WPIAL Girls Team Tennis Class AAA Championship. One week later, history has repeated itself in the 2010 PIAA Girls Team Tennis Finals. The Indians once again got the better of the Blue Devils Saturday afternoon to bring state gold back to The Academy.

WPIAL Week 3 Thursday Football Scores

A bit of surprise was supposed to be in store for high school football fans with THREE games on this first night of Week Three. However Mother Nature forced the postponement of one of the WPIAL games, thus the schedule shrunk back to the normal one WPIAL and one Pittsburgh City League game. CTK 2010 – PITTSBURGH CITY LEAGUE Preview

Over the past five seasons, four different teams have won Pittsburgh City League championships (Brashear won twice). Look for the balance of power to continue this season.
It doesn't seem like there is a prohibitive favorite to win the City League this year. Schenley captured the title a year ago.
