Jerry Concannon oversaw a consistently successful girls soccer program at Springdale. After a dozen years, the Dynamos are looking for a new coach.

The Allegheny Valley School Board last week accepted the resignation of Concannon, who led Springdale to a WPIAL championship and two PIAA runner-up finishes in his 12 seasons at the helm.

“It’s a big loss,” athletic director Ray Davis said. “He did a lot of good things.”

Springdale qualified for the postseason in 11 of Concannon’s 12 seasons and won the 2009 WPIAL Class AA championship, the third in school history, with a 2-1 victory over South Park. The Dynamos lost to Loyalsock in the PIAA title game.

Concannon also led Springdale to a PIAA runner-up finish in 2011 and WPIAL runner-up finishes in ’07, ’08 and ’11. Springdale reached the WPIAL quarterfinals eight times, the WPIAL and PIAA semifinals five times and the WPIAL championship game four times under Concannon, who finished with an overall record of 166-83-8.

In 2018 Springdale went 11-7 and advanced to the WPIAL quarterfinals.

Springdale is searching for Concannon’s replacement, with interested candidates instructed to send a letter of interest and resume to Raymond J. Davis, athletic director, Springdale High School, 501 Butler Road, Springdale, PA, 15144.
