Spotlight athlete: Shady Side Academy’s Wally Navid

Wally Navid, a junior left winger on the Shady Side Academy soccer team, was instrumental in the Indians' 3-2 win over Quaker Valley in the WPIAL Class AA championship game two weeks ago. He scored a pair of goals, including the winner in overtime.
He's been playing soccer for 12 years and is also on the track team.

What sport would you be playing if not soccer?
Probably squash.
What is your favorite vacation destination?
The Outer Banks.
Would you rather have tickets to a Pirates game, Steelers game or Penguins game?
Definitely a Penguins game.
What three items have to be in your refrigerator?
Raspberry tea, soy sauce and cheese.
If you could go somewhere you've never been, where would you go?
The Black Forest in Germany. It looks pretty interesting.
What is your favorite TV show?
“The Office.”
What would make up your favorite meal?
French toast, fried shrimp and A&W Root Beer.
What junk food do you have a weakness for?
Jolly Ranchers.
Is there a food you refuse to eat?
Brussels sprouts.
What TV show makes you want to change the station?
I don't watch much TV, so I really don't have a least favorite show.
