The MSA Sports Stretch Run is nearly over for almost all of the WPIAL girls basketball teams. All of the playoff spots have been filled in each of the four classifications. Here is a rundown of the final WPIAL girl's roundball playoff picture through Friday, February 11th.

CANON-McMILLAN & BURRELL IN 7th HEAVEN AS 2011 WPIAL TEAM WRESTLING CHAMPIONS

Two of the most decorated wrestling programs in the WPIAL are celebrating a record tying 7th district team championship Saturday with victories in the WPIAL Team Wrestling finals at Chartiers Valley High School. Canon-McMillan captured a second consecutive Class AAA title and the seventh championship ties them with Connellsville for the most in WPIAL AAA history.

Burrell Gets One for the Thumb in Winning a 5th Straight WPIAL AA Wrestling Title

After giving Chartiers-Houston a 6 point head start, Burrell never looked back in the 2011 WPIAL Class AA team Wrestling championship match Saturday at Chartiers Valley High School. The Bucs rattled off 6 straight victories after giving up a forfeit at 103 pounds, four of those wins by fall for as Burrell won the battle of the Bucs 54-20 for a fifth consecutive WPIAL Class AA gold crown.

Canon-McMillan Beats Latrobe for Back-to-Back AAA Wrestling Crowns While Kiski Area Qualifies for States

After winning a WPIAL championship a season ago, Canon-McMillan came into Saturday's action looking for the opportunity to repeat. And repeat they did as the Big Macs knocked off the Latrobe Wildcats at Chartiers Valley High School. They got off to a fast start, winning 4 of the first 5 matches, one by fall (freshman Alec Hutchin) to take an early 15-3 lead.

Is this the year Summit peaks? The Summit Academy boys' basketball team is sitting atop the WPIAL Class AA Section 2 standings with an 8-2 mark (11-6 overall). Neshannock is a half-game behind at 7-2.

WPIAL Football Division I-A College Choices

It was not a good year for WPIAL football and Division I talent. Less than two dozen WPIAL players signed letters of intent Wednesday with Division I-A colleges. That's down from other years. The biggest story in this recruiting class was where some of the WPIAL players went. Two players signed with Texas Tech

Micah Mason's basketball scoring and shooting statistics are eye-opening and surreal in some games. But another offensive statistic associated with Mason has been overlooked, but also is extremely impressive with the junior guard at Highlands High School. Mason is averaging 8.3 assists a game.

2011 WPIAL Team Wrestling Sectionals Results

The 2011 WPIAL Team Wrestling Sectionals are history as the top five seeds have been determined from each of the four Class AAA and each of the three Class AA sections.
