2011 WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis Championships

The first brackets of the 2011-2012 school year are out as the playoff matches are set for the WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis Championships. The first three rounds are set for Thursday with the Class AAA at Shady Side Academy and Class AA at Keystone Oaks High School.

Unlike the first two weeks where heat and/or humidity were a factor in the scholastic football action, a more fall like cool and crisp forecast greeted participants in four WPIAL and two Pittsburgh City League afternoon and evening contests. Here are all of the final results from the six games that capped off Week 3.

Friday Night HighLightsWhile the conditions in Western Pennsylvania felt like early to mid-October, it was only the third week on the WPIAL football season, the week in which most teams are playing Conference games…you know, the games that count!

2011 WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis Sectional Results

The first WPIAL championship of the 2011-2012 school year will be decided on Friday, September 23rd with the WPIAL Girls Singles Tennis Championships. Both the Class AAA and Class AA tournament fields have been determined with the Girls Tennis Sectionals with the top three players from each section advancing to next weeks playoffs.

One of my favorite weeks of the regular season…Week Three. Now this week is business as usual for those in the AA Midwestern, AA Interstate, A Eastern and A Tri-County South Conferences. Even those teams in the AAA Parkway and AAA Big Eight Conference got into the ‘section’ mode last week.

Welcome to Week 3 of the high school football season. Against her better judgment, Chick’s Picks decided to participate in a fantasy football draft in late August. Once the draft had concluded, it was clear that Chick’s Picks had put together what would be considered by most to be quite the all-star roster.

Told ya it goes fast; week three is upon us in the blink of an eye, and trust me it’s only going to get faster. Monumental big time match-up in AAAA this week, winner of this one becomes a big-time favorite to end up at Heinz Field in late November. Contrast is the name of the game in AAA.
