PIAA Boys and Girls Western Region Golf Finals Results

There were no district championships at stake Monday afternoon, just a spot in the upcoming PIAA state golf championships. 34 WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League golfers have qualified with 11 from Boys AAA, 12 from Boys AA, 6 from Girls AAA and 5 from Girls AA. As the college football season continues, the conference races begin to become a little clearer. This week Mercyhurst and Cal post wins as they look forward to a battle for the PSAC West title. Waynesburg stays on top of the PAC standings. and Duquesne takes a huge hit in their bid to repeat as NEC champions.Here are recaps of All the games:Slippery Rock 28 – Clarion 20 The Rock ended a 3 game losing streak and claimed the Milk Jug for a 4th straight year with the win at Memorial Stadium on Saturday. Nigel Barksdale threw for 2 scores and ran for a third for the Rock in the win.

WPIAL Week Seven Saturday’s Scholastic Starz

It was a bloated Saturday of WPIAL football action with seven games on the docket. So since we are in Stetch Run mode, we don't have to feel guilty about enjoying extra pleasures and get a little bloated on great performances from the Seventh Saturday of the season.Connor Slomka and Ernest Williams - Pine-RichlandLike any great duo through the years, one delivers the early shots while the other comes in and finishes the deal. That was the story of the Pine-Richland ground attack Saturday at Shaler as Connor Slomka rushed for 163 yards and two first half scores, while Ernest Williams came in and ran for 101 yards and two second half scores as the Rams beat the Titans 49-6 in a Class AAAA Northern Seven Conference contest.

Pgh Central & Burgettstown Win WPIAL Boys Golf Championships

From 1998 through 2001, Burgettstown captured four straight WPIAL Division II championships. They hadn't won one since, but the eleven year drought ended Thursday as the Blue Devils captured the Class AA crown with Owen Miller leading the way with a 74. Penn-Trafford & Central Valley Win Gold in Girls Team Golf

It was a day of firsts Thursday at the Cedarbrook Golf Club in Belle Vernon.
