IUP Falls Short in NCAA D-II Quarterfinals
December 1, 2012
Ricky Rozier scored from one yard out with 3:51 remaining to play to give the Winston Salem State Rams a berth in the NCAA Division II semfinals with a 21-17 victory over IUP on Saturday in North Carolina. The number 2 ranked Rams entered the playoffs as the number one seed in Super Region One, Winston Salem is now 13-0 overall.

Quips Cruise To 14th Win in PIAA Class AA Quarterfinals

The Aliquippa Quips continued their winning ways with an easy 51-15 victory over the District 9 champion Karns City Gremlins at Sarge Alberts Stadium in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinal round. Aliquippa led 31-0 after one quarter and 44-0 at the half. The Quips had 333 rushing yards in the first half and scored on seven of their eight possessions in the half, while the defense held the Gremlins to mnus 6 yards rushing in the same period.

District College Football Preview for Saturday, December 1

One team remains alive for a national championship, the IUP Crimson Hawks in Division II. Here is a preview of their matchup this week for the regional title:The IUP Crimson Hawks(12-1) meet the Winston Salem Rams(12-0) for a noon kickoff in the NCAA Division II/Super Region One final, with a berth in the national semifinals on the line.IUP closed the regular season ranked 11th in the AFCA D-II coaches poll. The Crimson Hawks were the #3 seed in the region. IUP has defeated Shepherd and New Haven to move to the regional final.

North Allegheny, West Allegheny, Aliquippa & Clairton Win 2012 WPIAL Football Crowns

Three teams on top of the District 7 football scene after the 2011 season are back no top here in 2012. Indians and Quips, and Tigers and Bears...oh my. Clairton claimed a record tying fifth straight WPIAL Class A championship while North Allegheny won a record setting third consecutive WPIAL Class AAAA title. Meanwhile, Aliquippa won back-to-back crowns for their record 15th overall football championship and West Allegheny won for the sixth time in 15 years and their second Class AAA gold in the last four years. Here is a look back at ALL of the results from the 2012 WPIAL Football Playoffs. Once again this year, all 60 games were heard live and now can be enjoyed archived here on the MSA Sports Network!

West Allegheny’s Wildcat Whips West Mifflin 34-8

The West Miffln Titans and the West Allegheny Indians squared off in the night cap on Championship Friday at Heinz Field in the McDonald's/WPIAL Class AAA Championship game. In a matchup of two strong running games, the West Allegheny wildcat was most impressive in leading the Indians to a 34-8 victory over West Mifflin as the Indians captured their 6th WPIAL Class AAA Title and their second since 2009.
