Peters Township Edges SSA to Repeat as WPIAL D-I Girls Lacrosse Champs
Been there, done that for Peters Township, as for the second straight season and the fifth time in ten years, the Indians captured the WPIAL Girls Division I lacrosse championship with a 16-14 victory.This match at Martorelli Stadium in the North Hills between Division I – Section 1 rivals Peters Township and Shady Side Academy was the third game on the season between the pair of Indians.

Shaler Squeeks Past Chartiers Valley for First WPIAL D-II Girls Lacrosse Crown
It may have taken longer than expected for Shaler to capture the WPIAL Girls Division II Lacrosse Championship, but the wait was well worth it for the Titans. The championship match was twice delayed by lightning and Shaler let leads of 7-1 and 12-6 slip away before rallying to defeat the Colts at Martorelli Stadium in the North Hills.Trailing 1-0, Shaler scored 7 unanswered goals to take the lead at 10:58 of the first half. During the seven goal run, the first lighting delay came after Chartiers Valley called a timeout trailing 5-1. The delay lasted about 55 minutes.

North Allegheny Survives Scare to Win 7th WPIAL AAA Boys Volleyball Title in a Row
In the WPIAL Boys AAA Volleyball Championship match the North Allegheny Tigers defeat the  Bethel Park Black Hawks by a 3-2 match score to win their 7th title in a row and their 10th in the last 11 years and 16th overall title.The Tigers took game one 25-17 and made it look easy. At 13-10 they went on a 12-4 run to win. Tommy Keisling the SR OH led the way with his power game.In game two it was close and tied 9-9 before Bethel Park would take control. NA fell apart mid game  as the Blackhawks went on an 8-3 run to go up 21-15. Camden Hay the SR OH came up big to lead the way and his kill gave BP a 5 point lead at 23-18 on their way to a 25-21 game two win to tie the match at 1-1.

Ambridge Sweeps Derry to Repeat as WPIAL AA Champs
In the WPIAL Class AA Boys Volleyball Championships Thursday at Baldwin High School, the Ambridge Bridgers defended their title with a 3-0 sweep of the Derry Trojans. It's their fifth WPIAL AA title in the last six years.In game one Both teams played well early and the game was tied 5-5 before Ambridge took control. Too many unforced errors did in the Trojans as the Bridgers went on a 9-1 run to lead 14-6 on their way to a 25-17 game one victory.In game two, the Trojans kept it closer and the game was tied at 9-9. For Derry, Matt Vasinko and Josh Wannamaker were the Trojans stars. But Ambridge would go on a 12-3 run to go up 21-12 lead. Derry would go on a late run but come up short and the Bridgers would go up 2-0 in the match.

WPIAL Softball Playoff Recaps for Wed, May 22nd and Thur, May 23rd

While six of the district softball semi's beat Mother Nature on Wednesday, the two other contests that didn't make were in another battle of beat the rain on Thursday. In the end, the Final Four contests over two days produced dominating performances by teams and individuals, an unreal comeback, a see-saw shootout, a marathon game and perfection. North Allegheny and Ambridge AGAIN Rule the WPIAL Boys Volleyball World
In the movie 'Groundhog Day', Bill Murray kept waking up to February 2nd, no matter what happened on the previous day. That is how district boys volleyball teams must feel. They keep waking up and North Allegheny and Ambridge are wearing the gold. It was a titanic struggle, but North Allegheny captured its seventh Class AAA title in a row with a thrilling five game victory over Bethel Park. Meanwhile, Ambridge swept past Derry to win its second straight crown and the Bridgers fifth championship in the last six years. The South Shines as Mount Lebanon & Seton-LaSalle Celebrate 2013 WPIAL Boys Lacrosse Titles
In the fifth anniversary of WPIAL boys lacrosse, won school captured gold for a third time while the other enjoyed their first ever golden crown. Shady Side Academy Settles for Silver in 2013 PIAA Boys Team Tennis
The 2013 PIAA Class AAA Boys Team Tennis Finals ended the same way the 2012 championships ended a year earlier, with District 1 champion Conestoga beating WPIAL winner Shady Side Academy as the Pioneers captured their third straight state title. In Class AA after Sewickley Academy lost in the Semifinals, Wyomissing won a second straight PIAA crown by beating Lancaster Country Day Saturday in Hershey. 2013 WPIAL AAA and AA GIRLS Individual Track & Field Results

One superstar female athlete is winding down her historic scholastic career while another is not even halfway through and she's breaking records. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of Hopewell and Breanna Schwartz of Shaler headlined a memorable day at Baldwin High School on the girls side of the 2013 WPIAL AAA and AA Individual Track and Field Championships.(Pictured are Medalists for the Girls Class AA Long Jump)Walker-Kimbrough continued to add to her resume as one of the most decorated golden girls in WPIAL history as she added to volleyball and basketball gold by winning the Long Jump and the Triple Jump.

2013 WPIAL AAA and AA BOYS Individual Track & Field Results
It was a two team show Thursday at the WPIAL Track and Field Individual Championships from Baldwin High School on the boys side.  In AA, the Washington Little Prexies returned to their peak form and performed well, taking the majority of the medals. The Little Prexies goal going into the event was to avenge their second place finish in last year’s 4x100 meter relay and they were successful. It seemed as if each time there were AA Boys medals being handed out there was a Wash High member in the top half of the medals. (Pictured above are the medalists for the Boys Class AAA Triple Jump)
