Chicks Picks – Week Four – 2013
Welcome to Week 4. Chick’s Picks has a dear friend at the MSA Sports Network who loves nothing more than to spend his free time attending bizarre fitness classes.  For months, Mike Azadian has been strongly encouraging Chick’s Picks to attend a hot yoga session with him.  Nothing about this idea sounded even the slightest bit intriguing to Chick’s Picks, but after a stressful week, she decided to give it a try.Chick’s Picks was right—she found little stress relief stretching her body in ways it did not belong.  To make matters worse, her trusty crystal ball could not withstand the heat of the 105-degree studio.  This week’s picks melted out of the crystal ball, right into oblivion.

MSA Sports Plays of the Week – Week Three
#1 Sto-Rox 34, Neshannock 31In a rematch of, arguably, 2012’s best game, Sto-Rox (3-0) and Neshannock (2-1) played another thriller for the ages. There were, however, two major differences this time around: the game was on a Thursday night and Sto-Rox came up with a much-needed defensive stand late in the game. Down 34-31 with under 10 seconds to play, the Lancers’ Giani Olivia would take a pitch from the 2 yard line. Sto-Rox’s defense would hold though, stopping Olivia on 4th and goal with 4 seconds left, giving Sto-Rox a gigantic win in Class A’s Big Seven Conference. Last season, Neshannock scored a late touchdown, rallying from down 21 points at halftime and stunning Sto-Rox 35-34.

Scholastic Notebook – 09/13/2013
There is undoubtedly more passing in high school football these days. But after two weeks, could this be the year of runners in WPIAL football? While WPIAL football again has some impressive passers, the running statistics have been big through the first two weeks. Take a look:*It’s considered a nice night when a team has two 100-yard rushers in a game. It is extremely unusual when a team has two 200-yard rushers. But there have been two teams (Penn Hills and Steel Valley) that have had two 200-yard rushers in a game – and they did it on the same night (last Friday).*Penn Hills’ Billy Kisner has rushed for 200 yards in two consecutive games – and he’s a QUARTERBACK.
