Baldwin wrestlers Gehrig Hutchison, Jamil Khalil and Connor Sidoruk qualified for the WPIAL Class AAA championships held recently at Canon-McMillan.

Hutchison, a senior, was seeded second at 195 pounds at the Section 2-AAA tournament. He compiled a 20-4 record during the regular season.

Khalil (160), a senior, and Sidoruk (170), a junior, were the fourth and fifth seeds in their respective weight classes.

Three other sectional qualifiers from Baldwin were freshmen Abdullah Makhoul (132) and Justin Bochter (138) and sophomore Christian Mulholland (152).

• Erin Winkowski, a junior and third-year member of the Baldwin competitive cheer team, has been a cheerleader since fourth grade.

“My favorite thing about being a Baldwin cheerleader is the family that we make with each other,” Winkowski said.

• Two Baldwin girls relay teams — the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle — advanced to the WPIAL Class AAA swim championships.

Seniors Jordan Fediaczko and Kaleigh Varney and freshmen Nicole Kosco and Leah Revo competed for Baldwin in both events.

• Four members of the Baldwin boys basketball team played in all 22 games this season as the Highlanders finished 12-10.

Senior guards Nick Fiumara (13 points per game) and Jeremy Jenkins (10.5), senior forward Mike Goga (10.) and junior guard Christian Barr (5.4) combined to average 39.1 points. Three others who played in 19 games were Andy Sopato and Shane Gilbert, both junior guards/forwards, and Connor Lavelle, a freshman guard/forward.
