The Sewickley Academy and Shady Side Academy boys tennis teams are playing up in Class AAA this season.

The Indians are familiar with matches in Class AAA, but it’s a new thing this year for the Panthers, who won 14 straight WPIAL Class AA team titles through last year.

Sewickley Academy also finished as the PIAA runner-up last year after capturing the Class AA state titles in both 2016 and 2017. The Panthers are in Section 2 with Butler, Mars, Moon, North Allegheny, North Hills, Pine-Richland and Seneca Valley.

Shady Side Academy was the WPIAL Class AAA team runner-up to rival Fox Chapel last year. The Indians have won six WPIAL AAA team titles, most recently in 2013.

The WPIAL team tennis tournaments are set to begin May 1, and the top four teams from each section in both Class AAA and AA will qualify.
