Quaker Valley was well-represented in the championship and consolation finals at the PIAA Class AA swimming and diving championships Friday and Saturday at Bucknell.

The Quakers made it back to the evening sessions in five swim events. The top eight after the preliminary heats advanced to the championship final, while those in ninth through 16th moved to the consolation final.

Leading the way was junior Andres Hubsch, who took seventh in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.55 seconds, down from 53.71 in the preliminaries.

He also finished 14th in the 100 butterfly (53.72).

Senior Kevin Bergdoll produced an 11th in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.66, lower than his prelim time of 1:01.22.

The 200 medley relay of Bergdoll, Hubsch and seniors Ben Mastrorocco and Declan McGranahan finished 13th at 1:40.32, down from 1:41.64 in the prelims; while the 400 free relay of Bergdoll, Hubsch, senior Devon Jones and junior Kieran Ragowansi placed 14th with a 3:20.78, also lower than its prelim swim of 3:21.85.

In addition to the swimmers, freshman Simon Iwanonkiw made his PIAA debut in Friday's boys diving competition. He advanced to the top-20 semifinals and placed 18th with 208.55 points.

The Quakers' 35 points earned them 19th place in the final boys team standings.
