Pine-Richland coach Kasperowicz named finalist for national award

Pine-Richland’s Eric Kasperowicz was one of six high school football coaches named Wednesday as finalists for a national award.
Kasperowicz and St. Joseph’s Prep coach Gabe Infante, whose teams met Saturday in the PIAA Class 6A championship, were among the finalists for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Coach of the Year honor.
The winner will be recognized Jan. 5 during at the U.S. Army all-star game in San Antonio, Texas. The other finalists are Straight Herron of South Point High School in Rock Hill, S.C., Mike Kirshner of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Ind., Bruce Rollinson of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif., and Patrick Surtain of American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla.
Pine-Richland (16-0) completed its undefeated season with a 41-21 victory over St. Joseph’s Prep at Hersheypark Stadium. This was Kasperowicz’s fourth season as head coach of the Rams.
Pine-Richland quarterback Phil Jurkovec was announced earlier as a finalists for the U.S. Army player of the year award.
In addition to that honor, Kasperowicz was selected to coach in the U-19 national team against Canada in the International Bowl in Dallas in January.
