How they got here: District 1 champion Garnet Valley defeated Cedar Crest, 52-34, Bethlehem Freedom, 50-45, Council Rock North, 47-45, and Neshaminy, 51-48. WPIAL champion Peters Township defeated Harrisburg, 54-34, Bethel Park, 62-44, Norwin, 64-47, and Upper Dublin, 51-46, in overtime.
Notable: Garnet Valley won the District 1 title for the first time. The Jaguars’ only loss was to Villa Maria Academy (Malvern, Pa.), 58-46, on Jan. 26. McAteer (Loyola) and Borcky (Drexel) are both Division 1 basketball commits and 1,000-point scorers. McAteer has averaged 14.8 points per game this season. Borcky averages 9.9. Both teams are in the PIAA finals for the first time. Peters Township has three scorers averaging double figures: Marisa 20.6, Mills 13.7 and Thompson 12.7. Marisa is a Penn State commit.
