The PIAA baseball championships took place Friday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on the campus of Penn State University. Here are recaps from the Class A, Class AAAA and Class AAA state baseball finals.

PIAA CLASS A CHAMPIONSHIP:
Bishop McCort Crimson Crushers 14 – Montgomery Red Raiders 2

The District 6 champion Crismon Crushers unloaded for eight runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back as they pounded the Red Raiders 14-2 in only five innings. Nemo Trexler tripled and both Christian Leech and Justin Vardian smacked doubles in the first inning as Bishop McCort mixed six hits with three Montgomery errors in grabbing the 8-0 lead. Leech added another double and Jimmy Stenger tripled in a 5-run fifth inning that helped end the game early for the Crushers, who lived up to their name. Jesse Copper was the winning pitcher for Bishop McCort.

PIAA CLASS AAA CHAMPIONSHIP:
West York Bulldogs 9 – Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers 6

Jesse Bortner started the second inning with a double and teammate Bradnon Kinneman drove in two runs with a double later in a five-run second inning that featured two errant pick off throws and a balk in helping the Bulldogs to a 9-6 win over the Pioneers. West York’s big second inning turned a 1-0 deficit into a 5-1 lead. The Bulldogs added a run in the 4th inning and three more runs in the 6th inning, giving West York starting pitcher Kaden Hepler plenty of help in picking up the state title clinching victory.

PIAA CLASS AAAA CHAMPIONSHIP:
LaSalle College Explorers 3 – Council Rock South Golden Hawks 1

Colin Pyne had a first inning RBI single and Mike Piscopo and Cominic Cuoci added RBI singles in the fourth inning as the Explorers held on to beat the Golden Hawks 3-1 for the PIAA AAAA state baseball championship. The three runs of offense were more than enough for Kevin Long, who allowed only one unearned run in leading LaSalle College to the victory.
