OLSH rolls past Laurel after slow start

Things didn’t start the way Our Lady of Sacred Heart had hoped on homecoming Saturday against Laurel. One of Class A’s top teams trailed 7-6 after one quarter.
But after Laurel’s first-drive touchdown pass, OLSH (6-0, 5-0) settled in and scored 28 unanswered points — all in the first half — totaled 483 yards on offense and won going away, 56-13.
After a first drive three-and-out, Chargers quarterback Tyler Bradley went 10 of 19 for 257 yards and four touchdowns the rest of the first half. Bradley finished 20 of 30 for 423 yards, seven touchdowns and an interception.
Laurel’s defense caused havoc on the opening drive for OLSH, but the Chargers’ playmakers was too much to handle. Wide receiver Rico Tate reeled in eight receptions for 174 yards and three touchdowns. He had five catches for 145 yards and a touchdown in the first half. OLSH also received contributions from Andrew Schnarre (four receptions, 62 yards and two touchdowns) and Austin Wigley (two rushes for 21 yards, four receptions for 90 yards and a 75-yard kickoff return for touchdown).
The run-heavy Spartans (2-4, 1-2) executed only nine passing plays for 67 yards but rushed for for 149 yards on 49 carries.
Leading the way on offense for Laurel was Luke McCoy, accruing 57 total yards (38 rush, 19 receiving). Quarterback Dom Wade went 5 of 8 for 63 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 38 yards on 12 carriers.
OLSH continued to roll toward a Class A playoff spot and a potential Big Seven Conference championship, but it faces a stiff test on the road against Jeannette on Friday at 7 p.m.
Laurel will have a tough road the playoffs. Its playoff push starts Friday at Union at 7 p.m.
