Norwin junior Kurtis Phipps announced on Twitter on Monday that he will follow his brother, Drew, and wrestle for Bucknell.

Phipps made the choice after visiting numerous colleges while he recovers from surgery on his left foot. He had surgery March 22. Recovery time is five months.

The four-time state freestyle champion and three-time Greco state champion also visited Penn, Princeton and Brown, and Stanford has made a visit to Norwin.

He is a two-time PIAA Class AAA runner-up and a three-time WPIAL champion.

Phipps has a career record of 111-9. He placed seventh in the state in 2017.

He injured his foot during a PIAA semifinal-round victory against Council Rock South’s Shane Hanson-Ashworth, 5-3, in overtime. After a visit to the hospital, Phipps returned to the Giant Center with a boot on his foot.

Despite the injury, Phipps battled Nazareth’s Sean Pierson but dropped a hard-fought, 9-5 decision.
