Norwin notebook: Adalena Robb tees it up at WPIAL tournament

For the third time in her golf career, Norwin junior Adalena Robb advanced through sectional qualifying then moved on to the final round of the WPIAL championship.
Robb finished 22nd out of 29 players in the first round at Willowbrook Country Club in Apollo, shooting a 96, with nines of 49 and 47.
She shot a 98 in a steady rain in the final round Sept. 30 at Butler Country Club and ended up finishing 23rd.
Last year, Robb finished 19th after rounds of 98 and 96. She was 27th as a freshman (110, 107).
The top seven girls in 3A make the PIAA tournment.
Norwin moves up
Norwin girls soccer ran its unbeaten streak to four with a 4-0 victory over Hempfield.
Tatum Casper, Hannah Amantea, Julia Bursick, and Delanna Colarusso all scored for the Knights (6-5-1, 4-2), who moved into a second-place tie with Latrobe in Section 1-4A.
Boys soccer wins
The Norwin boys soccer team moved to within a half-game of first in Section 1-4A.
The Knights (7-4, 5-1) blanked Hempfield, 11-0, as Daniel Maddock had an eight-point night with two goals and four assists. Logan Plichta and Brendan Ash had two goals each.
Football drops 4th straight
The Norwin football team fell to 2-4 overall with a 24-7 loss to North Hills.
The Knights were set to visit rival Hempfield in Week 6.
WCCA sked
The next event on the Westmoreland County Coaches Association schedule was the cross country championship set for Oct. 9 at Westmoreland County Community College.
Norwin swept the Class 3A team titles last season, with the Derry girls (2A) and Kiski Area boys (2A) also winning championships.
Individual champions were Eliza Miller and Sam Plazio, both of Kiski Area.
Hoops shootout
Greensburg Salem will host its sixth annual girls basketball shootout for varsity and junior varsity teams Nov. 2 at the Hempfield Recreation Center.
Admission is $5 for an all-day ticket.
This year’s teams include Forest Hills, Franklin Regional, Greensburg Central Catholic, River Valley, Penn-Trafford, Hempfield, Thomas Jefferson, Penns Manor, Johnstown, South Allegheny, Yough, Connellsville, Latrobe, and Greensburg Salem.
