You'll have to excuse Mt. Pleasant softball coach Lauren (Shaheen) Armanious if she does not have an extensive scouting report on incoming outfielder Courtney Poulich.
The rising talent is just a freshman but people have heard good things about Poulich. After all, she is a Division I college recruit already and has yet to play a varsity game.
“This will be my first year coaching her, so I am not fully aware of her range and ability, other than a few things here and there,” Armanious said.
Poulich, a 5-foot-8 standout with the Team Pennsylvania Fastpitch 14U Larcinese team, gave a verbal commitment to Liberty.
That means another talented addition to an already strong team that won the PIAA Class 4A championship last season.
And Poulich gives the Vikings two Division I players. The other is her sister, senior Chloe Poulich, a Towson recruit.
A third baseman, Chloe Poulich hit .372 last season and had a key triple and drove in four runs in the PIAA title game.
“(Courtney) and Chloe are both amazing kids inside and out,” Armanious said. “I am excited to see them both this season.”
Phil Larcinese coaches Courtney Poulich in travel ball.
“Courtney has developed into an exceptional athlete with a personality that matches her on-the-field performance: big and exciting,” he said. “Courtney is the type of player that can change the outcome of any game with one swing of the bat. More importantly what separates Courtney from the rest is her undeniable work ethic and her commitment to her faith, family and teammates.
“Liberty is getting a true stud and a special kid.”
