Mt. Lebanon cruised into the WPIAL Class 6A softball playoffs with an 11-0, five-inning victory over Upper St. Clair on Tuesday.

Catie Rogan tossed a two-hitter with six strikeouts and a walk to record the shutout. Mt. Lebanon jumped on top 3-0 in the first inning when Jenna Goreckie blasted a three-run home run over the center-field fence following back-to-back walks to Madeline Ritenour and Megan Dietrick.

The Blue Devils never looked back, tacking on seven more runs in the second inning on five hits and two Upper St. Clair errors. Ritenour had a two-run single, and Dietrich and Rachel Lee contributed RBI singles to break the game open.

Paige Sneddon added an RBI single to drive in the final run in the fourth, and Rogan did the rest with the help of a sound defensive effort behind her. The win upped Mt. Lebanon's record to 7-5 in Section 1-6A and delivered a playoff appearance for first-year coach Casey Phillips.
