MSA Sports Saturday’s Scholastic Starz – Week Nine

The lightest Saturday high school football schedule in the WPIAL turned out to be the final Saturday of high school football in the WPIAL. There were only three games to close the books on the district schedule, so it leaves us with only three stars with three strong performances.
Austin Miele – Mars
In the battle for the Class AAA Greater Allegheny Conference championship, Mars star running back Austin Miele was held to only 82 yards. However, he shined in other ways, including a touchdown…and a half. After scoring on a one yard run, Miele recovered a fumble late in the third quarter, then pitched the ball to Zach Zwigart, who ran 40-yards for a score in a 23-12 victory over the Knoch Knights.
Anthony Kosciuszko – Shenango
In a Class A Big Seven Conference finale with pride and fifth place at stake, running back Anthony Kosciuszko took great pride in leading his team to a higher notch in the standings. Kosciuszko rushed for 136 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns that were the difference in a 21-9 victory over the Neshannock Lancers.
Jack Balser – Western Beaver
Jack Balser did a little of this and a little of that and in the end, he did a lot to help Western Beaver knock off Union in a Class A Big Seven Conference finale. Balser rushed for 62 yards,
