Maley’s walk-off single lifts No. 2 Pine-Richland past Norwin in WPIAL quarterfinals

Jake Maley hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth inning to propel No. 2 Pine-Richland to a 2-1 victory over No. 7 Norwin in a WPIAL Class 6A quarterfinal baseball game Tuesday night at Upper St. Clair’s Boyce-Mayview Park.
Norwin starter Billy Kerston allowed one hit through six innings, but gave up a leadoff single to Josh Johnson to begin the seventh. After a sacrifice bunt and a walk, Maley smacked a first-pitch fastball to left field to win it.
Jayden Walker had an RBI double that scored scored Owen Sabol in the third for Norwin (14-7).
Grant Voytovich had a solo homer in the third inning for the Rams (16-4).
Pine-Richland will play No. 3 Bethel Park (15-3) in the semifinals at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shaler.
