Ligonier Valley senior Aaron Tutino has put together an illustrious high school career.
Now the 5-foot-10 receiver is closing in on a state record for career touchdown receptions.
Tutino has 51 touchdown catches in his four-year career; he needs three more to catch Allentown Central Catholic’s Kevin Gulyas, who had 54 from 2008-11.
Tutino is coming off a 12-reception, 285-yard and five-touchdown performance against Purchase Line.
Ligonier Valley plays at Marion Center on Friday.
Tutino has 30 catches for 583 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. His career receptions are 170 for 3,340 yards.
His 285-yard performance ranks him sixth in the state for receiving yards in a game, and his 170 career catches ranks him ninth. The leader is Bishop McDevitt’s Brian Lemelle with 269. If Tutino can reach the 200 mark, he would be ranked fifth in the state.
