Kiski Area’s Noah Levett suffers injury but says he will be good for WPIAL wrestling semis

Noah Levett moved closer to his goal of his first WPIAL wrestling championship Friday, but it didn't come without some nervous moments.

The Kiski Area senior, the top-seeded 138-pounder at the WPIAL Class AAA championships, suffered a left leg injury in the third period of his 5-0 quarterfinal victory over Connellsville's Colin Franks. Levett required treatment during and after the match but said later he expected to be ready for his semifinal matchup Saturday against Seneca Valley's Drew Vlasnik.

“No one wants to end their season from an injury, so that was my biggest thought,” Levett said. “I didn't want to be done off a little injury. I'm just going to have to ice up and be back (Saturday).”

The injury occurred in the first minute of the third period. As Levett went for a takedown, Franks' head came into contact with his knee. Trainers attended to Levett as he sat on the mat and wrapped the knee with ice after he finished the victory. The ice was removed within the hour.

A three-time medalist, Levett is seeking his first individual title. He beat Hampton's Liam Helon by technical fall in the first round Friday.

“Last weekend, I wasn't scoring much. I wasn't shooting much,” Levett said. “This weekend, I've been getting takedowns and just doing my normal thing of constantly pushing the pace and just grinding.”
